The second episode of the WWF’s Extinction Sucks follows Aleisha and Ashleigh to the beach and in no time at all find themselves discussing how and why dolphins will sometimes protect human swimmers from sharks.

A particular focus of the episode are Hector’s Dolphins. These dolphins are some of the rarest and smallest in the world.  To raise funds for conservation efforts for the dolphins they gatecrash a party – and its worth watching the effects painkillers and alcohol have on more Ashleigh. Thankfully their tactics work and the manage to raise some funds.

The two travel to New Zealand just as the local government extend the fishing ban on both Maui and Hector’s dolphin. Giving a balanced view the WWF funded program interviews fishermen who oppose the move (which may cost as much as $80 million). However, the two press on in helping to organise a march to support the government bill and oppose the fishing industry’s attempts to get the law over turned.
