Is Thorpe Park’s SAW ride haunted?

The bosses of Thorpe Park have suspended six members of staff and called in an exorcist. They believe that an Ouija board session the six members of staff conducted in the ride may have left the rollercoaster haunted.

The SAW ride at the amusement park is based on the horror movie franchise. It can be pretty scary. Allegedly, staff at the centre decided to use the Ouija board after the opening night of a Halloween themed “Fright Nights”.

Shortly afterwards guests are believed to have started to report paranormal happenings on the ride. Bosses believe the two events are related… but it can’t be ignored that this would also be a wonderful PR story for the park. If it is a PR stunt then suspending the six members of staff is, perhaps, extreme.

It is said that guests have reported sudden drops in temperature, lights that flick on and off as well as banging doors.

The park’s bosses have asked Rev Lionel Fanthrope to investigate the ride and determine whether it is haunted. Fanthrope told press that if would carry out an exorcism if he discovers entities had crossed from the other die.

He added, “Many people believe that the Ouija board is just a game but its power should never be underestimated as it may be a very dangerous tool if not used properly.

“It opens a gateway to another dimension and when people who are not experienced spiritualists play with Ouija boards, mischievous entities can get through as may have happened here.

“If there is something causing fear and bewilderment at Thorpe Park then I will take care of it and if deemed necessary I will carry out an exorcism to remove any mischievous spirits”.

The SAW ride cost Thorpe Park a large fortune – nearly £14 million. It opened in March, can reach speeds of nearly 55mph and produce up to 5g of force.

What do you think? Is this a stunt that’s resulted in staff being expelled? Are the staff in on it? Or could the ride actually now be haunted after the Ouija session?

Thorpe Park is about 20 miles from central London. A train from Waterloo to Staines* is popular with visitors as busses stop near the station and can take people straight to the park.

    Definately a stunt…

It wouldn't suprise me at all if the stars were on paid leave over the halloween period. I've been to a fright night at Thorpe Park. It doesnt matter where you go, there is always people banging on doors as you walk past and if they can spare 14 mil on a ride, im sure they could spare a few squid to rig the bloody lights to flicker. Still, thorpe park is awsome, especially on fright nights!

Or even this is the park looking to save money by putting the staff on un-paid leave, harshly, and then try and pull the PR stunt on top?

So what if SAW is huanted because a few spirits or cant hurt you and having the lights flicker is so coool plus SAW is ok because i went on it and their a few things that touch you or scare you on the ride but that is ok.

If the saw right is haunted, then it could effect guests who decide to go on the ride, because if it was a powerful enough entity it could cause damage to the ride or even break the ride down when its in use, causing a saftey hazzard to guests.

i agree with all these comments however if the management truly believe it is haunted whether it is a PR stunt or not surely they should 1. close the ride 2. have the REV come to ensure that the ride is haunted perform his exorcism and 3. only re-open the ride when both the Rev and management of the park both feel that the ride is safe for eveyone to ride because if something goes wrong or a visitor gets hurt during the ride well we i doubt any one would know where they would stand.

but personally i went on the ride when it first opened a while back and yes it is made to look grim and eerie with gun shots (fake) going off and strange figures dotted around but if someone is nervous you get chills and not being funny it could be quite easy to mistake nerves and being scared with something being haunted because what reason would a ghost have to haunt it? no one died during building the ride it just does not make sense.

Its well freaky if saw is haunted because if it is a bad spirit then it can hurt you on the ride. The staff members are a bit stupid for doing a ouija board in saw, if the ride is haunted then i think they should get a medium or someone out to see if they detect any spirits because its not safe.
