Dreams sometimes require careful and microscopic analysis. This list of animals appearing in dreams and what that appearance may mean is based on common interpretations. In particular, if you have a relationship or awareness with one particular deity and that deity is associated or represented by an animal then the appearance of that animal in your dream may have a very different meaning.
Adder
Killing an adder in your dream suggests the end of an undesirable friendship however being bitten by one suggests lies and treachery will come from a false friend.
Alligator
Dreaming of an alligator suggests that someone you know is a false friend and perhaps even an enemy. You will be able to recognise the alligator from their over dramatic displays of friendship.
Ants
Flying ants suggest that you will make a journey whereas worker ants busy on the ant-hill is a lucky dream suggesting business growth and wealth. Standing on an ant-hill in a dream is unlucky and suggests the failure of plans and destruction.
Bat
If you dream of a bat flying in the night then it suggests you are at risk from an enemy you cannot see coming. Dreaming of a bat flying during the day suggests you will see danger coming and escape it.
Bear
Dreaming of slaying a bear suggests you will overcome a challenge or rival. Dreaming that you are running from a bear is to dream that a challenge or enemy may soon threaten your happiness.
Bee
It is considered very lucky to dream of bees; it suggests friends, faithfulness and business success.
Bull
Dreaming of a bull charging you is a warning that false friends and rivals are speaking badly of you. Dreaming of a peaceful bull in a field or the wild is to dream of peace and prosperity.
Camel
If a single camel appears in your dream then it suggests you will need to make a short journey. Dreaming of more than one camel is lucky and suggests money is coming your way.
Cat
Dreaming of a walking cat is to suggest you too will need to make a journey. Dreaming of a mewing cat is to know that someone is bad mouthing you. If the cat in your dream scratches itself then someone is seeking to trick you and if the cat purrs there is the danger that you may become a hypocrite.
Cuckoo
If you see a cuckoo in your dream then this suggests quarrels in your love life, a new lover or both. To hear the cuckoo but not see it is to know that a false friend will trick you with bad advice.
Deer
If deer run from you in the dream then you are at risk of upsetting a friend. If the deer approach you in the dream then you will have the chance of reconciliation with a former close friend.
Dog
To dream of your own dog is lucky – suggesting loyal friends. Dreaming of strange dogs may suggest unwelcome attention from strangers however dreaming of mad dogs which attack and bite is actually a good omen. When a dog speaks in a dream it is representive of advice from friends or strangers.
Donkey
Dreaming of a donkey suggests that you have the patience to overcome your current challenges.
Dove
To dream of a dove falling from the sky is unlucky and suggests that a relative faces very serious threat and may die. Dreaming of doves in all other instances is a positive omen of peace and prosperity.
Eagle
Dreaming of an eagle on the ground or an eagle landing is to dream of disappointment. Dreaming of a flying eagle is to suggest that success and the realisation of future ambitions.
Elephant
An elephant in your dream suggests success and powerful new friends.
Fish

I had a terrible dream where my 3 dogs were brutally attacked and killed by being hit by cars and beaten in front of me. In Real world I have no dogs, just cats..this dream woke me up in a cold sweat

Thanks for the post. Gosh! That sounds like a scary dream and I can see why you'd be sweating. I think the good news is that dreams can often be rather backwards in their meaning and I think this is what is happening here.
The dogs suggest friends (since you own them…) and the fight is a struggle and the car crash represents something you don't have full control over yourself. Car crashes and dogs are actually quite common together in dreams since the dogs represent someone other than yourself and this ties in with you not being in control.
I think this dream suggests that friends of yours are going to do something challenging for you – and win.

I had a dream that I was walking a bay colored horse and a dark colored dog was riding on the horses back. I had a very contented and relaxed feeling while leading them. I do not recognize either animal in real life and am not sure what this could signify.

I think this dream suggests an encounter with an arrogant stranger.
The horse is generally a good signal – it often represents health and sexual vigor. Dreams when you or someone you know riding a horse are dreams which are connected to importance. Rarely this can mean that someone has an over-inflated sense of their own importance though.
The dog (as it wasn't yours) most often represents a stranger. As the dog was calm then this tends to suggest unwelcome attention from the stranger.
Putting the two together suggests to me that you'll encounter someone who needs to be taken down a peg or two. As you were leading the horse I suspect you'll find you'll be the one who has to do this.

my mother and i tried to interpret a dream i just had. in the dream, i was in a relative's house and i found a series of ancient books and a moist, brown, toad without warts was attached to the front of each book. a miniature saddle and harness was on the toad and it was still awake or rather "aware."
somehow i was trying to figure out the meaning of the books and the significance of the toad along with other three key items next to it (but I don't remember for sure what they were). i just know i was trying to solve some puzzle to either prevent history from repeating itself or buy some time before something chaotic happened in this world.
i woke up feeling uneasy — on edge. can't help feeling like this was or is real…

Hello. Recently, my mother had a dream that a bird and rat were chasing a large, fast-moving worm in the house that ended up in my bed where they killed and ate it. And later, a smaller worm was following my mother outside right before she hurried inside the house leaving it outside. Any ideas?

i constantly dream about animals. latest was having two pet husky dogs then losing them.. and in the same night i dreamt i had a kitten, bunny and 2 puppies all on leads
also i always i have dreams about having miniature animals! any ideas what the significance of them being miniature is?

I had this tdream recenty where I was riding a horse with someone and heard this growling noise in the forest which detects that there is a wolfe involved. And the screen changes and saw this wolf growlng at me through with window and broke through it and bit my arm. Then I was swinging that wolf around and smashed it against the wall only to find out that it was a small wolve not as big I thought it was going to be. My borther and my father were besdes me when all this was happenning… can anyoneshed some light to my dream interpration. man thanks,.,…

I had a dream that an old sick lady was attacked by lions and tigers, but she managed to escape by the help of her relatives. I also managed to escape, then I on the run I saw some toads or frogs being traped in some kind of jelly and some animals were feeding on it. I also escaped that route and safely reached a restaurant, my unlce the restaurant owner was very angry with me and my mom so he didn't talk, and later I saw myself sweeping his restaurant with huge pile of dirt. I saw two girls one with red saree waitresing restaurant. any advise

I had a horrible dream last night that my two 7-month old puppies were put down, so was my parents 10 year old dog. I've tried to look this up but can only find dogs dying, not being put down…. please help me as to what this may mean?

I think it's the same thing. That's just how you are dreaming death. Remember dog dreams often reverse things; a death dream may not just be about a new beginning, it may be also about the re-affirmation of the current.
